Week 5 covered social bookmarking and tagging. I looked at the library’s account on del.icio.us. I then set up my own account and uploaded the bookmarks from my PC. My first task is to weed those bookmarks as there were 331 uploaded. This may take some time.
I will experiment with tagging new websites as I come across them at work. I’m not sure about using it at home as I use AOL’s browser. I will see if I can get it to work otherwise I might change the browser at home to either Internet Explorer or Firefox (any recommendations?). I’ll report on how I get on in one of the reflection weeks.

Hi Karen,
I’m probably biased but I’d choose Firefox. However del.icio.us should work on any browser.

One of the things I really like about social bookmarking sites like delicious is that you can see what others have bookmarked. I don’t know if you’ve looked at this feature yet, but the next time you’re on delicious click on the number in the coloured box to see who else has bookmarked a site you have in your own bookmarks. By doing this you can find others with the same/similar interests as you.
By the way, I’m with Jenny – go with Firefox!

I will pick Firefox as I had to download it as part of the Week 6 exercise and discovered it has a very good Facebook add on. When I get used to it, I might change over here at work too.
